School Safety for Volusia County

Last week I had a great meeting with Sheriff Chitwood to discuss our schools, and safety measures from his point of view. Since school safety is a major concern of mine, and every other parent, I was pleased to hear about the current safety measures taking place, as well as the future plans.

Having two small children who will be in school for at least the next 12 years means I want the best for their education, but I also want to have confidence in our schools and county that everyone is working together for the children.

After my meeting with Sheriff Chitwood, I sat down with a guardian at our own school to see what he had to say. These men and women are truly hero’s at our local schools, and a grand piece in the school safety machine.
